SERENA participated in the ISPCAN 2026 Congress, held in Melbourne, Australia, from 24 to 26 August 2026.

The project was represented by Ulugbek Nurmatov from Cardiff University, who presented oral communications showcasing research findings from two SERENA work packages, WP2 and WP3.

During the congress, Ulugbek Nurmatov presented the following research:

  • WP2 – Access to therapeutic health and social care services for children who experienced abuse: A mixed-methods systematic review of literature from three countries

  • WP3 – Temporal trends in hospitalisations for child sexual abuse, 2013–2022: A multinational cohort study in four European countries

Through its participation in international scientific events such as ISPCAN, SERENA contributes to the exchange of knowledge and research findings on child maltreatment. These activities support the project's commitment to improving the detection of maltreatment and access to health and social care services for vulnerable children across Europe.

By sharing evidence and engaging with the international research community, SERENA aims to inform the development of meaningful recommendations that can contribute to improving policies and practices in child protection and care.
